Library rules
The following rules apply in the library:
General
- By signing the registration form, you agree to familiarise yourself with and observe the rules and regulations listed above.
- We recommend that readers enter the study rooms with only the items necessary for studying. The library cannot be held liable for
any loss of or damage to the user’s personal items or items kept in the lockers. (The management of the University Campus at Bohunice
is in charge of the lockers).
- Respect the quiet study environment in our study rooms. Switch off the sound on your mobile phone,
avoid disruptive behaviour and follow the instructions of our librarians.
- Consumption of food and beverages in bottles without a cap is forbidden.
- Do not return books to the shelves; put them on the book trolleys instead.
Registration
- A valid ISIC/ITIC or another MU identification card is required for registration. Users who do not belong to MU will be
issued a card by the library.
- Internal users (MU students and staff) do not pay a registration fee. For all other users, the registration fee is 300 CZK
for the first year and 200 CZK for all subsequent years.
- You will be required to fill in a registration form. External users will be required to
present their ID card or passport with a permanent residence permit.
- The library card is non-transferable and items can be loaned only to the owner of the card. The library card owner will be held
liable for the misuse of a lost or stolen card.
Loans
- Users are asked to retrieve materials held in the open stacks independently. Materials held in the closed stacks or special collections will be retrieved for you upon request, made through our online catalogue.
- You may borrow only one copy of each publication. The maximum number of loaned items is 20 for internal readers and 10 for external readers.
- You cannot borrow books with a library card belonging to someone else. The library card owner will be held liable for the misuse of a lost or stolen card.
- Items labelled RC belong to the Reserved Collection and will only be loaned out to students in English study programmes at the MU Faculty of Medicine.
- You can renew your loans online up to two times, unless another reader has reserved the item or you have outstanding obligations to our library.
- If you are unable to return your loan to the library on time for compelling reasons (such as illness or international travel) and you can no longer renew it, please contact us.
- You are responsible for making sure that you do not exceed the loan periods given for each item on katalog.muni.cz. Our library system will send you a reminder of an approaching due date. However, a failure to deliver this reminder is not an excuse for returning the books late.
- Students are required to return all loans when they interrupt, terminate or complete their studies at MU.
- It is forbidden to damage the loaned items in any way (underlining, making notes, tearing pages out, etc.).
Types of loans
- In-house - library study room only
- Monthly - one month
- Semester - 90 days
Computers and multifunction printers
- The devices are available only to internal and registered external readers solely for their personal use.
Users must ensure compliance with the copyright protection of all data.
- All devices are self-service.
- Defective copies or printouts caused by incorrect settings cannot be reimbursed and users must pay for them.
