Review of journal transparency and best practices

Purpose

This service is designed for researchers who are strongly considering publishing a paper in an Open Access journal and would like to make sure it follows the transparency and best practice principles (CZ).

Eligible users

TThis service is offered only to current PhD students and academic staff at Masaryk University. Requests sent by ineligible users will be disregarded.

Note

Since journal review is a time-consuming process, please only submit requests for journals where you are planning to publish. We do not review the journals of traditional publishers (see the list on the right), who can be assumed to follow the ethical rules of academic publishing. Our review will let you know if the journal you are considering follows the principles of transparency and best practice. We are not qualified to assess the scientific quality of the journal content. The final decision on whether to publish your paper in the journal remains your own.

Our process

We check 10 objectively verifiable principles (in Czech) of transparency and best practices in academic publishing as defined by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA and WAME. We will provide you with the result of our assessment of these criteria but is up to you to assess the scientific quality of the journal and decide whether it is the best place for your paper.

Price

The service is provided free of charge.
